0-6-0-6-6. Oct 12, 2008. #1. Does anyone know if the new 3.5L V6 can be swapped to replace a 2.5L or 3.0L Duratec ?? I have a chance to pick up a '99 Mystique SE with a 2.5L and 5 speed from a coworker for cheap. The engine is very tired. The specs are the reason I say the 2.0 should be offered instead of the 3.7. A very good motor might be the 2.7, used in the Fusion sport and the Lincoln Continental. A lot more power and should yield 30% better MPG, ie. 23-24mpg instead of 18. That also translates to 30% more range per tank, 520 instead of 400.
2015 - 2020 F150 - 3.5 flex fuel high miles - Looking at maybe buying a 2015 F150XL 4wd with almost 160k miles. It was a fleet vehicle so well maintained, I am just wondering generally how this engine does with high miles - is it most go 200k, or something like “my cousin has over 400k on his”? need to decide in the
But Mr. Cline heads me off, noting that the 3.5L Twin Cam, with 230 ft.-lbs., beats all those engines on torque. And we all know the new saying: People buy horsepower but drive torque. Moreover
The EPA is making the car manufacturers do this for the last bit of mileage and sacrificing engine life. My 08 3.5 Edge has 235,000 miles on it and just put the first water pump in it. $ 1,600 at Ford dealership and the timing chains are still good.
